AlphaVote

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 July 2026 · Data controller: AlphaVote (Beatriz Ferreira) · support@alphavote.app

1. What AlphaVote is

AlphaVote (alphavote.app) is a collective-intelligence platform where you vote with reasoning, learn, and take part in communities.

2. Data we collect

Account: email, username, and password (stored encrypted by our authentication provider — we never see it).

Profile (optional): photo, bio, interest preferences.

Content & activity: cards you create, votes (including any confidence, reasoning and time horizon you attach), comments, community memberships, points history, predictions and stakes, and support requests.

Anonymous votes. If you vote anonymously, your vote counts in the results but your identity is never shown to other users — it is stripped server-side in all public views. The internal association exists only to prevent duplicate voting and is never exposed.

Usage data: only with your consent (the consent bar), we collect product analytics via PostHog (EU-hosted) — screens viewed, interactions, device type. If you decline, PostHog is never activated. We also keep an internal event log containing no personal data (no cookies) for aggregate statistics.

3. Why we use it

We do not sell personal data. Aggregated, anonymised data (e.g. “68% of the community prefers X”) may be used in statistics, reports and product improvement.

4. Who we share it with (processors)

ProviderRole
SupabaseDatabase, authentication, file storage
PostHog (EU)Analytics — only after you consent
ResendEmail delivery
Google WorkspaceSupport inbox
GitHub PagesSite hosting (public content)

Some providers may process data outside the EU under appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).

Community rewards. When you redeem a reward, your name and email are shared with that community's owner for fulfilment — with your explicit consent at the moment of purchase.

5. Retention

We keep data while your account exists. You can delete your account in the app (Settings) — personal data is erased; public content essential to result integrity may be anonymised rather than deleted. Backups roll off within our providers' normal backup cycles.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, port, restrict and object, and to withdraw consent — write to support@alphavote.app. You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in Portugal: CNPD).

7. Cookies & local storage

We use localStorage for preferences (theme, drafts, consent state). PostHog sets cookies/identifiers only after you accept the consent bar. There are no advertising cookies.

8. Minimum age

AlphaVote is intended for users aged 16 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age.

9. Changes

We will post changes on this page; material changes will be announced in-app or by email.
